Here you can keep track of what Gail and I are doing and get an insight into our work.....
To start here is a quick catch up ........
January - 4 weeks in India
This was a follow on from our trip to Nepal last year- There is something about Asia that just fascinates...
Gail myself and our two kids- Billie-Lea [13] and Jimmy [11] went on our annual road trip...
Each year we get away to a distant far off country and throw ourselves into a diverse and different culture and soak up the sights, smells and characters we meet. Making sure that we do not fall into 'tourist trap' and end up travelling to India only to stay with fellow westerners... we headed to places that were not mentioned in the tourist guides. We went to India to stay with and meet Indians.
Because the concept of 'the family' is firmly entrenched at the centre of their religions and is central to their whole society and being, we soon made friends with our children with us. Westerner families travelling off the beaten track is relatively rare. We were welcomed and were treated with respect and curiosity, rather than being targeted to be 'ripped off'. Billie and Jimmy were both armed with cameras as they were given the task of learning how to create a photo documentary and teach them that there is more to life than Bebo and ww dots.
We took two bags - one full of cameras and the other full of clothes.[ Much to Gails horror].
India is an enigma, full of paradoxes and contrasts, from the Burning Ghats of Varanasi through to the nomads living in the desert lands of Rajasthan. The quality of light and colour of the land and cities provided a totally new experience for us all. Gail and I shot off 1000's of images and the kids shot off a close to a 1000 themselves.
We also photographed our first Hindu wedding at the holy town of Pushkar...
here you will find a mix of shots taken by the four of us. I have included some from Nepal last year as well as its Gails favourite place on the planet....
